Introduction
After many wonderful holidays in Northern Cyprus, we made the decision to buy a house here. Most important to us was to find somewhere quiet and peaceful – a safe distance from the bustle of the tourist resorts.
From our first visit, we fell in love with the village of Kantara, so this was the obvious place to choose.
Nestled in the tops of the mountains, the house is set in almost half an acre of wooded grounds, affording splendid views overlooking the sea on the south coast of the peninsula.
This is a tranquil retreat in the most beautiful and unspoilt part of this country, and an idyllic spot to enjoy some precious timeless solitude.
For us this is a special place to escape, we hope you will find the same!
The Restoration Project
With the help of local craftsmen we have completely renovated the house, whilst retaining its rustic character and charm. Beginning in October 2005 with a completely new roof, over the course of the next few months the house has been completely re-wired, re-plumbed, and generally brought up to the 21st century. Doors, windows and shutters were replaced throughout the house.
Although the renovation is complete, the project doesn't end here. We have started to landscape the woodland garden, and set up a rain water irrigation system.
From April 2007, we have flowers on the terrace, with no worries of them wilting in the long dry summer! Kantara Haven will continue to evolve as time allows, and we will update this page as we progress.
